I've Been BareMineralized!

Hi, lovelies!

So, let me tell you about my adventures with BareMinerals. I've been toying around with them since I was a freshman in high school. I ordered my first batch from Sephora because I wanted light coverage for my skin discoloration. I ordered the Deep color and used it for awhile before I started to notice that it gave my skin a greyish cast, especially if I used too much in one concentrated area. I wasn't too much into makeup then the way I am now. I mean, I had the products, but I didn't have the knowledge and definitely not the technique. I stopped using BareMinerals after that because I eventually started wearing more makeup and thus, wanting better coverage.

From about 2008 to this summer I had been using a cream foundation stick. I liked it because it gave me flawless coverage and lasted a lot longer on my oily skin than liquid foundations have. (My oily skin was another reason I wanted to give BareMinerals a try.) But I noticed people would always say, "Your makeup looks so pretty. What kind of foundation do you use?" (._.) I didn't quite know how to feel about that. I mean, I've never had a totally natural makeup look, but is it THAT obvi that I'm wearing coverup? I wondered how I looked to people.

Then, this past summer, I actually went out for a job for BareMinerals in the same shopping center that I now currently work in. But they didn't really like the fact that I didn't wear all BareMinerals makeup. I mean, I had some products but I think they were expecting me to be a little more enthusiastic about their brand. I told the manager interviewing me about my experience with BareMinerals and she offered to color match me. She told me that I might have been wearing the wrong shade, and I most definitely was. The new shade they gave me, "Medium Dark", matched perfectly! So now I'm totally addicted to BareMinerals. It mixes with the oils in my skin to give me a flawless glow, and I don't have to use so much pore-clogging, oil-based makeup. I do still highlight and contour with them, but on a much smaller scale. I also purchased the Mineral Veil, which is amazing. It gives you a perfect, airbrushed look. I purchased so many products that day, it's ridiculous. I can honestly say I am now a BareMinerals fan.

I just love how natural these products are. There are no fillers like with other makeup. They say you can wear it to sleep but my skin is much too sensitive for that and I did wake up with a nice-sized pimple upon doing so. But the light coverage is a great change from my heavier foundation stick. It blends better, and it has natural SPF in it. I'm really particular about wearing sunscreen, especially on my face. If not, when you get darker, so do your blemishes. :/

For those of you unsure about BareMinerals, here are some tips to getting the best usage out of it:

  • Use The Right Brushes. If there is a BareMinerals outlet near you, I would definitely recommend that you utilize it to get your brushes. They have really great discounts on good quality brushes. I use a pretty stiff, short-bristled brush to apply mine, but you can use a Kabuki brush.
  • Use A Light Hand While Applying. Because of the minerals they use, too heavy of an application can make your face discolored. I learned this the hard way when I first got mine. I was at work and my face looked like Georgia clay. A little it of this goes a very long way. Trust me.
  • Don't Forget The Method! Swirl, tap, buff. Enough said.
  • Don't Use This Powder To Set Your Makeup! I use CoverGirl's Mineral Powder in Transluscent Honey. It's cheaper and it doesn't discolor my skin.

I know this was a very long post but it contains just about everything you need to know about BareMinerals if you're trying to get started. I can't say I'm staying away from other brands, though. I am a product junkie--we don't stick to just one thing. But I will say that as far as coverup goes, BareMinerals gets my vote--again.

Hi, darlings!

I am soooo sorry for not being a good blogger! So much has gone on since I last posted: new job, car problems, awful new haircut, you name it. I just haven't had the time (or the inspiration) to do much posting. But I promise you guys, I'm back!

Anywho, I'm determined to make F.A.B. the best beauty/fashion/music/whatever else blog it possibly can be. I have so much to catch you up on, so I definitely will be posting much more regularly. I promise! But I can't do it alone. I need my readers to spread the word! With your help we can be the blog to watch for 2012! I believe in you guys!

Ta-ta,
F.A.B.
