Nailed It!

Listening to: "Drink in My Cup" by Electrik Red

Bonsoir! (Or Bonjour? Who knows??? Howdy!)

So, if you didn't know, I'm a nail polish fanatic. My nails must be done before I can step foot (or hand) out into the world. And they have to be perfect. It has to look like a professional mani-pedi but I'm way too cheap to spend the money to get it. So I've decided to dedicate this post to nail polish news.

Firstly, if you didn't know, now you do: Revlon is soon to be releasing a scented nail polish! Isn't that craziness? It's called Fruitful Temptations and will be in eight shades that smell beachy when they dry. And this isn't just a gimmicky nail polish--the colors are amazing, especially for the summer. I mean, I absolutely adore them all. Standout faves? Passionate Fruit, Raspberry Rapture, and Not-So-Blue Berry. Definitely look for those in your drugstores, ladies--these are sure to be hot commodities.

Remember the peel-off nail polish from back in the day, like when you were six? Add the convenience (and non-messiness--probably the reason your parents bought it for you) to the chicness of "real" nail polish , et voila! Brand Sula Beauty, known mostly for their perfume, is launching a line of polishes appropriately called Paint & Peel Polish. This is great if you're like me and can't paint their nails for beans! They're $8 to $10 per bottle and come in 15 shades. They're really cute, grownup shades, too--I like the azure. Plus, they're water soluble, so mistakes can be fixed easily. And if you're like me and you switch up your nail polish just about every day, this makes that really easy. You'll be able to find these at Ulta soon. (source: WWD)

And how's this for diamond in the rough? Nail polish goddess Essie is launching a collection influenced by Judith Ripka, a jewelry designer. And get this--each bottle will be infused with diamond dust, and three bottles will contain a diamond, a sapphire, or an emerald! According to Essie Weingarten, the polish will be easily removed from the stones with a little remover, and the diamond dust is made to not only add a non-sparkly glow, but also to make the polish adhere to nails better. The collection contains three shades: Put a Ripka Ring on It (a pinky shade), My JR Jewels (burgundy), and Queen of Hearts (your classic red). You can expect this collection in August and the polishes will be around $15 a bottle.

Other beauty headlines: Max Factor will soon no longer be selling makeup in the United States, due to the fact that hardly anybody around here ever buys it. According to the parent company, Proctor and Gamble, they're focusing their attention more on its best selling makeup brand, Cover Girl. Can you imagine all the big closeout deals you can get on this stuff? Just saying. (source: WWD)

Did you like the Harajuku Lovers perfumes as much as I did? I mean, not only do they smell amazing, but the packaging is so Andy Warhol, no? Well, these Japanese hotties and Gwen are getting a makeover for the winter. They're going to be called Snow Bunnies and will be donning super kawaii (if you're not into the Japanese thing, that means super cute) winter outfits. You can expect those in September and they'll be around $30 per bottle. You'll be able to find them at Macy's Nordstrom, and Sephora. (source: WWD)

I'm pooped, so I'm signing off for now. Let me know what you think about these nail polish revolutions--gimmicky or awesome?
